Appointment of Board Members to Labour Relations Agency

The Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) invites expressions of interest from individuals who wish to nominate themselves to serve as a Board Member of the Labour Relations Agency (LRA).  The LRA aims to be the leading organisation in Northern Ireland for improving employment relations. The Agency will contribute to organisational effectiveness by providing impartial and independent services for promoting good employment practices and preventing and resolving disputes.  

Through this recruitment exercise, the Department intends to appoint two Board Members for a period of three years.

The two vacancies are for:

  • one person with an employer background (with effect from 1 January 2013)
  • one person with an employee background (with effect from 1 October 2012)

Remuneration is currently £5,050 per annum.  Board Members will be expected to be available for at least one day per month and meetings will mainly be held in the Greater Belfast area.

  • Experience of the practice of employment relations  - from either an employee or employer perspective
  • A clear understanding of current employment relations issues in Northern Ireland.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate how they meet the essential criteria for the vacancy for which they are applying.
