Final consultation on the draft fixed term work regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002
Summary:
The Fixed Term Work Directive gives effect to the Framework Agreement on Fixed Term Work concluded by the European social partners, and is due to be implemented throughout the UK by 10th July 2002. The Directive is aimed at ensuring no less favourable treatment of workers on fixed term contracts compared to their equivalent permanent colleagues, and at restricting abuses which arise from the use of successive fixed term contracts. Having carefully considered the outcome of last year’s consultation on this subject, the Minister for Employment and Learning, Mrs. Carmel Hanna, has developed draft Fixed Term Work Regulations and explanatory notes, and is once again offering the opportunity to comment. A public consultation was launched under cover of a minute from the Minister on 13th February 2002, to run until 15th April 2002. Date of Publication: 13 Feb 2002 Consultation Period runs until: 15 Apr 2002
