Special Educational Needs and Disability Order

Summary:

The Department of Education and the Department for Employment and Learning are co-sponsoring the proposed Special Educational Needs and Disability Order. The aim of the proposals is to ensure the provision of comprehensive and enforceable rights in education for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities on the same basis as the rest of the United Kingdom. A consultation document, containing the draft Order and Explanatory Memorandum and, setting out how the proposals will apply was launched on 2 April 2004.
