Consultation on the Agency Workers Directive
Summary:
This Ministerial Response provides the Department's response to "The Agency Workers Directive - A Public Consultation 2010". The consultation sought views on policy proposals and draft Regulations to implement the Agency Workers Directive in Northern Ireland. The aim of the Directive is the protection of temporary agency workers by application of the principle of equal treatment, as set out in Article 5 of the Directive. This provides that the basic working and employment conditions of temporary agency workers should be, for the duration of their assignment with a hirer, at least those that would apply if they had been recruited directly by that hirer to occupy the same job.
