The selection process
Applicants must compete for money from the European Social Fund. The selection system has been designed to make sure that the best projects are chosen which meet the needs of the region within the available ESF budget. The system is also designed to avoid the duplication of activities.
- On receipt of your application (Parts A & B) European Unit will check to make sure that it is complete.
- Applications will then be passed to an independent selection panel to be scored. Selection panels are made up of partners who represent sectors such as voluntary and community organisations, further education colleges and district councils.
- Your project will also be assessed to see how far it fits in with the objectives outlined in the Operational Programme and Programme Complement, and how well it represents value for money.
- Economic appraisals will then be carried out on those projects which pass the preliminary selection process.
- You will be given feedback on your application and will be told the score your project has achieved. This will allow you to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your application.
- If your project has been selected for funding, and any outstanding issues cleared, European Unit will send you a Letter of Offer.
