Equal
The Equal Community Initiative is designed to test new ways to combat all forms of inequality and discrimination in the labour market, for those in work and those seeking work, through transnational co-operation.
Projects are run by groups of organisations coming together as Development Partnerships. These allow for a mix of employer, employee representative, community, voluntary sector and public organisations.
Development Partnerships in Northern Ireland link up with at least one other Development Partnership in another European Union country, which is undertaking a project addressing a similar disadvantaged group or a similar form of disadvantage.
The second and final call for funding from the Equal initiative closed on 28 May 2004. Following an assessment process, the Northern Ireland Equal Monitoring Committee approved 13 successful applications.
The first call for funding closed on 31 August 2001. On this occasion the Monitoring Committee approved 5 successful applications.
