Am I eligible?
New Deal for Disabled People (NDDP) targets people with a disability who are on specific health related benefits.
NDDP is a voluntary programme and the client must be in receipt of a qualifying health related benefit as below:
- Incapacity Benefit (IB)
- Income Support with a disability premium
- Severe Disablement Allowance
- Income Support pending an appeal against disallowance from incapacity benefit
- National Insurance credits because of incapacity (you may get these on their own or with Income Support, Housing Benefit or War Pension)
- Disability Living Allowance provided that you are not getting Jobseeker's Allowance and are not in paid work of 16 hours or more a week
- Housing Benefit with a disability premium, provided that you are not getting Jobseeker's Allowance and are not in paid work for 16 hours or more a week
- War Pension with an Unemployability Supplement
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit with an Unemployability Supplement
- Incapacity Benefit equivalent from an EU country
Individuals may be in receipt of more than one qualifying benefit.
There is no qualifying length of incapacity, for example if a client moves from JSA to IB they would be eligible to participate in NDDP from day one of this entitlement.
