New Deal for Partners

New Deal for Partners (NDP) offers partners of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance, Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Carer’s Allowance, Severe Disablement Allowance, Pension Credit or either member of a couple in receipt of Working Tax Credit, a wide range of assistance to find work or suitable training in order to prepare them for work. The assistance available includes:

  • Advice and assistance with Jobsearch or interview skills;
  • Vocational Training Courses to update existing or develop new occupational skills which last up to 13 weeks and lead to a qualification or part qualification;
  • The opportunity to undertake a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ Level 2);
  • An opportunity to gain valuable work experience by participating in the New Deal for 18 to 24 year olds or New Deal 25+;
  • For those who are interested in starting their own business, the New Deal for Partners self-employment route;
  • A weekly Training Premium for those partners who undertake New Deal provision;
  • A contribution towards the cost of childcare and travel expenses may also be available;
  • Childcare Assist – help with registered childcare costs in the week before starting work;
  • Childcare Subsidy – help with registered childcare costs for Partners who begin part-time work of less than 16 hours per week.

Partners will work closely with their New Deal Personal Adviser who will arrange for them to receive any practical help that they might need such as advice on training or education, help with job applications or writing a CV.
