Steps to Work Key Performance Indicators
Aim
The Steps to Work (StW) programme commenced in September 2008 and replaced the New Deal programmes as the Department for Employment and Learning’s main adult return to work programme. The aim of Steps to Work (StW) is to assist the unemployed and economically inactive to find and sustain employment.
Targets
As the programme’s aim indicates, the focus is on helping people to find work and in this respect the Department has set two key targets:
- 25% of leavers to find employment (within 13 weeks of leaving) and to sustain that employment for a full 13 weeks
- 85% of those who have sustained employment for a continuous period of 13 weeks to retain that employment for a further additional 13 week period i.e. total duration of 26 weeks sustained employment
Monitoring Performance
As with all programmes and services there is a need to effectively manage and monitor performance on an ongoing basis.
In this respect a number of key performance indicators have been developed. As part of the Department’s commitment to openness and transparency the programme’s performance data will be published and updated on a regular basis.
