Write to the institutions about a place for study and application procedure for an award to support the study. |

Apply for a place at your chosen institution and complete an application form for an award. |

Ensure you have completed all necessary application forms to allow time for academic referees to complete and forward their reports with your application (if required). |

Closing date by which completed application forms must be received by: Economic and Social Research Council, The Arts and Humanities Research Board. Check with your chosen institution for the closing date for awards offered by the other Research Councils. Northern Ireland institutions closing dates.You should check this date with your chosen institution. |

The two NI universities send offers to successful candidates and also notify unsuccessful applicants |
