The Department’s 2007/08 Rolling Programme of Evaluations” included provision for a Review of Postgraduate Policy and Funding
Following an open tender, the review was undertaken by FGS McClure Watters, overseen by a Steering Group consisting of officials from the Department for Employment and Learning, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Invest NI and Research Councils UK.
The review provides an objective assessment of the postgraduate environment in Northern Ireland. It considers the extent to which current postgraduate funding and policy are aligned with the needs of the local economy, while taking account of policy and funding in other parts of the UK and in the Republic of Ireland.
The final report was cleared for publication by Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey, on 11 May 2009.
The Steering Group has been reconvened to consider the potential implementation of the recommendations in light of current priorities and the wider fiscal environment.
