Briege Burns

Briege Burns delights in her win at the National Training Awards.

Briege who is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education had a non-traditional route into learning.

She worked as a voluntary youth and community worker and a clerical assistant while saving money to go to university where she gained the Advanced Diploma in Youth and Community Work.  Since 1993, Briege has gained the Advanced Diploma in Information Technology, NVQ Level 4 in Training and Development, a BA in Professional Development and a Post-graduate Certificate in Education.

She has also co-ordinated numerous community projects and worked as a freelance trainer, training hundreds of young people in addition to youth and community workers. Since January 2004 she has worked full-time for the Belfast Institute developing Progression Frameworks, strategies and courses to encourage Lifelong Learning.
