Intercomm

IntercommThe Women’s Enterprise and Vocational Education (WEAVE) is an Intercomm initiative, in association with Workers’ Education Association, aimed at helping women to benchmark their skills, re-train and take advantage of current and emerging opportunities.  This project is part financed by the European Union through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation which is managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by TWN.

The cross community initiative targeted North Belfast, an area of high unemployment, deprivation and low education attainment.  This initiative was brought about to address deprivation and inequalities from a woman’s perspective in the North Belfast area.  WEAVE has helped women to develop their self confidence and change their lives for the better.  As a result of the training, many women now feel confident enough to seize opportunities.

WEAVE has enabled women to develop skills that increase their employability and self employment prospects and to date 16 women have set up in self employment with a further 14 having re-entered the workforce.
