Joy Allen
At the age of 19, Joy was unemployed and without qualifications but after a journey of training and development she now provides training, coaching and consultancy in the areas of leadership, governance and management. While teaching for seven years, she started three different part-time businesses
In 1991 Joy became NI Director of Livewire and designed a number of unique development programmes. During seven years, she trained as an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier, and an Investors in People adviser. Her next role was as Director of ACOVO (Association of Chief Officers of Voluntary Organisations) where she undertook a Diploma in On-Line Learning, a Leadership in Management programme, a Leading Change programme, the Common Purpose Matrix Programme and a mentoring programme. She also passed her Advanced Motorcycling test with the Institute of Advanced Motorists and is now qualified to coach others towards the Advanced test.
She has travelled a huge distance from unemployed teenager to successful entrepreneur, board member and foster carer – not to mention a safe biker who thoroughly enjoys touring Europe each summer on my Harley Davidson!
