Waste Management is one of a number of issues that make an important contribution to Sustainable Development”. The policies and actions for better resource management aim to produce important environmental, health and economic benefits.
Government Departments (as well as others) have a responsibility to integrate sustainable waste management practices into their core business policy and operational mechanisms.
DEL's Involvement
To this end, DEL has in place a green policy” that sets out its targets to increase use of electronic distribution and reduce the amount of paper used. There are also objectives to increase recycling, generally, and thereby reduce the volume of waste going to landfill sites.
