The Office of the Industrial Tribunals and the Fair Employment Tribunal (OITFET) is staffed by 65 personnel responsible for the administration and organisation of the tribunals. The staff are provided by the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) and the team is led by the Secretary of the Tribunals.

Its main function is to adjudicate on applications relating to statutory recognition and derecognition of trade unions for collective bargaining purposes, where such recognition or derecognition cannot be agreed voluntarily.
