Dr Cristina Martinez-Fernandez (PhD UNSW, Doc Salamanca), of Spanish and Australian nationalities, is a Policy Analyst on Local Governance and Employment at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) programme. She has responsibilities in programs on Training and Skills Development in SMEs; Climate Change, Employment and Local Development; SMEs, Entrepreneurship and Innovation; and she manages the OECD/LEED Initiative on Employment and Skills Strategies in Southeast Asia (ESSSA).
Before joining the OECD she was a Professor at the Urban Research Centre, University of Western Sydney in Australia. Cristina led the Urban and Regional Dynamics research program which analyses industry change, urban performance and socio-economic development within the frameworks of innovation, globalisation and the knowledge economy. Cristina also coordinated the Higher Research Degree program of the centre. She has published more than 100 works.
