Northern Ireland certification officer reappointed

The Department for Employment and Learning today announced the reappointment of Mr Roy Gamble as Certification Officer for Northern Ireland.

The role of Certification Officer deals with the internal affairs of trade unions and employers’ associations.  It relates mostly to listing, accounting records, approving political fund rules of Northern Ireland based unions, secret ballots and the certification of the independence of unions.

Mr Gamble has not carried out any political activity in the last five years.

The appointment is for a period of a further three years commencing 11 April 2008 and currently attracts an annual emolument of £19,920.
