Getting the right result with the Careers Service

20 June 2007

This week the Careers Service in Northern Ireland is encouraging parents and guardians of 16 year olds to start thinking about their future.

Over 25,000 postcards will be sent to these main decision makers to encourage them to think about the education and career choices available to their children before they receive GCSE results.

Commenting on the importance of early career planning, Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey, said:  “Over the summer months, 16 year olds should be thinking about the various options available to them before they receive GCSE results in August.  As prime influencers, I would encourage the parents and guardians of these children to contact the Careers Service to learn more about the many educational, training and career opportunities that may be on offer to them.

“Operating throughout a network of Careers Offices across Northern Ireland, professionally qualified Careers Advisers are on hand to provide information, advice and guidance to parents and guardians at this important time. These advisers can help you and your children make informed decisions about opportunities in education, training and employment.”
