Jobcentreonline a big hit

25 June 2007

The Department for Employment and Learning’s job vacancy website, JobCentreOnline, has been named among the top five visited government websites in the UK.

The results come following a survey conducted by Hitwise, a US-based company, who identified the top ten websites from over 160 industry categories.  The survey revealed that JobCentreOnline was visited on average 84,000 times a week during the three month period of January – March 2007.

Minister for Employment and Learning, Sir Reg Empey acknowledged the ever increasing popularity of this website and said:  “JobCentreOnline’s integrated approach provides an important service to jobseekers, providing accurate and up to date vacancy information, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  I am encouraged by the results of this survey as it represents endorsement from the people who really matter. Being named in the top five UK government websites is an excellent achievement and it is great to see so many people making use of this online service.”

JobCentreOnline features an online registration service enabling users to record and manage their CVs and apply for jobs.  The facility allows employers to add and manage their vacancies through a dedicated portal which is fully integrated with JobCentreOnline as well as responding to CVs and applications.

JobCentreOnline can be accessed by logging on to www.jobcentreonline.com external link or alternatively you can visit one of the dedicated self service kiosks in the Department’s network of JobCentres and Jobs and Benefits offices throughout Northern Ireland.
