New Deal statistical bulletins published

Since the launch of the New Deal programme in April 1998, it has attracted almost 149,000 participants across Northern Ireland.
The latest statistics on the programme were published today by the Department for Employment and Learning.
Two different statistical bulletins were published:
- New Deal for 18 to 24 Year Olds in Northern Ireland: Statistics from April 1998 to December 2007. This bulletin indicates that since its launch in April 1998 to December 2007, there have been 71,182 participants on this programme.
- New Deal 25+ in Northern Ireland: Statistics from June 1998 to December 2007. This bulletin indicates that since its launch in June 1998 to December 2007, there have been 77,739 participants on this programme.

From September 2008, New Deal will be replaced by the Steps to Work programme. This initiative aims to help the unemployed or economically inactive overcome the obstacles which prevent them from finding work through personalised support and guidance from trained advisers.
