The search for the 2010 Apprentice of the Year has begun

The competition for the Department for Employment and Learning’s Apprentice of the Year Awards 2010 has begun.

Launching this popular competition, Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey said: “This is your chance to shine. These Awards recognise the apprentices who are taking their future into their own hands and employers who with their partnered training organisations are investing in the future and the skills of their workforce.”

Nominations are open now for the four categories. The much coveted awards are designed to recognise people involved in apprenticeship training here in Northern Ireland, including: employers, training organisations and the apprentices themselves.

The 2010 award categories are:
Apprentice of the Year
Most Promising First Year Apprentice
Personal Achievement Apprentice
Partnership Award (for employers and training organisations).

The closing date for all categories is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 3 March 2010. The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony in the Europa Hotel, Belfast on Wednesday 19 May 2010.
