Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey, today announced that an all-island Skills Conference will be held next year.

Speaking after his meeting with his counterpart in the Republic of Ireland, Michéal Martin TD, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Sir Reg said: “Building an understanding of our mutual skills needs is essential.  We must work with our southern counterparts in order to identify and fulfil skills requirements.

“This all-island conference, which will focus particularly on border areas, gives us a unique opportunity to share our experiences and explore practical actions that will bring positive benefits to both our economies.”

The Minister was in Dublin to meet with Michéal Martin TD and the Minister for Education and Science, Mary Hanafin TD, to discuss a range of matters of mutual interest.
