Celebrating 15 years of investing in people
Arguably the UK’s leading business improvement tool, the Investors in People Standard, has reached it’s 15th year anniversary.
During that period the Standard has gone through a significant process of evolution resulting in over 40 countries across the globe adopting it as their premier quality standard for business improvement.
Over 38,000 employers across the UK and almost 1,300 in Northern Ireland have met the requirements of Investors in People, but perception of what the Standard is all about and what it involves, remains patchy.
Minister for Employment & Learning, Maria Eagle MP, is challenging local employers to adopt this business improvement opportunity that exists on their very doorsteps.
“Investors in People is often considered a financial burden, yet it can be achieved with little or no cost to business and in Northern Ireland a broad package of support exists to help employers through the entire process.
“Over the past 15 years the Standard has become a flexible framework for business improvement, tailored to meet the needs of individual employers, irrespective of sector or size. There is no bureaucracy or hoops to be gone through and the primary focus of the Standard is bottom-line business results.”
The Minister was speaking during Investors in People Week, which runs from 6-10 November and is designed to heighten the profile of the Standard.
“I challenge Northern Ireland’s employers to find out for themselves how Investors in People can really make a difference to the performance of their businesses and that of the local economy”, concluded the Minister.
