Career Shopping at Victoria Square
One of Northern Ireland’s largest ever recruitment fairs was today launched by Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey and Social Development Minister, Margaret Ritchie.
With hundreds of jobs on offer, the Victoria Square Jobs Fair will take place on the 24 and 25 November at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast.
Sir Reg encouraged anyone currently considering a career in a retail environment to visit the event and added: “This is a very exciting time for Belfast with many new jobs coming to the heart of the city. The Victoria Square complex offers a range of opportunities to suit everyone - from full time managerial positions to part time sales advisor roles. It provides an ideal opportunity to work for some of the leading brand names on the high street.”
This Jobs Fair is an example of how the Department for Employment and Learning assists employers to find the right calibre of staff to fill their vacancies. Sir Reg continued: “This event follows recent successful job fairs that my Department has staged in Newry and Londonderry. They help to promote further the thousands of vacancies that Jobs & Benefits offices throughout Northern Ireland have on offer, which are also available via

.”
Social Development Minister, Margaret Ritchie, added: “This Jobs Fair is another indication that the opening of Victoria Square is approaching fast. This will be another boost for the regeneration of Belfast City Centre but it will also be important for many people – some of them in deprived communities on the fringe of the city centre - who are hoping to obtain employment.
“We want to ensure that communities have opportunities to benefit from the many and varied job opportunities which will come on stream with the opening of the Victoria Square next Spring. That is why this Jobs Fair is so important. I am confident that more job opportunities will be created and other Jobs Fairs will follow as my Department continues to roll out its regeneration objectives for Belfast City Centre”.
Commenting on the number of retailers who will be present at the Jobs Fair, Minister Ritchie added: “I would encourage everyone who is interested in a career in retail to come along to the Jobs Fair to see for themselves the many exciting job opportunities that exist within this very impressive Scheme.”
