Minister commends local businesses
Minister for Employment and Learning, Sir Reg Empey, today visited two leading employers in the Enniskillen area.
Kerry Foods, which has been operating in the town since 1999 and QUINN-direct call centre, which was opened in 2003 as part of the Quinn Group’s expanding insurance sales business, played host to the Minister during his visit. He was greeted by Senior Management in both locations and toured the respective sites meeting and chatting with the employees.
Praising both companies for their pro-active staff development policies the Minister said: “There have been considerable improvements in the local economy and labour market over the past few years. It is extremely important that Northern Ireland is prepared for future employment opportunities by having a highly skilled workforce to compete in what is an increasingly global economy.”
Referring to the Department’s Success through Skills Strategy, which focuses on raising the skills of the workforce and improving the employability of the workforce of tomorrow, Sir Reg said: “I am encouraged to see the importance that both Kerry Foods and QUINN-direct place on job-related training and in providing opportunities for employees to develop the appropriate workplace skills.”
