New Deal statistical bulletins published

Since the launch of the New Deal programme in April 1998, it has attracted almost 155,500 participants across Northern Ireland.

The latest statistics on the programme were published today by the Department for Employment and Learning.

Two different statistical bulletins were published:

(1) New Deal for 18 to 24 Year Olds in Northern Ireland: Statistics from April 1998 to September 2008.  This bulletin indicates that since its launch in April 1998 to September 2008, there have been 74,661 participants on this programme.

(2) New Deal 25+ in Northern Ireland: Statistics from June 1998 to September 2008.  This bulletin indicates that since its launch in June 1998 to September 2008, there have been 80,838 participants on this programme.

On 29 September 2008 Steps to Work, the Department’s new flexible approach to helping people to find work, was introduced in Northern Ireland. The Steps to Work programme subsumes the main New Deal programmes in Northern Ireland.
