Union Learning Reps - Foreword
Summary:
In Great Britain, legislative proposals have been put forward to put union learning representatives on a statutory footing similar to that accorded to shop stewards and other union representatives at workplaces where a union is recognised for collective bargaining purposes. This would involve, for example, the granting of time off for representatives to undertake initial training and to carry out their duties. The attached consultation document outlines the proposals. I am keen to gauge reaction in Northern Ireland to them to help assess their appropriateness here.
