Jobskills programme
The Department is currently working towards a new Professional and Technical Training provision that will replace the Jobskills programme This new programme called Training for Success
will begin in September 2007.
Looking for work?
Are you ready to leave school but unable to find a job? Do you need to improve your skills? Jobskills can help.
What is Jobskills?
Jobskills is a training programme that pays a weekly training allowance or a wage while you get the skills, qualification and experience you need to help you find a job. It consists of Access, Traineeship and Modern Apprenticeship training.
What does it involve?
The Department's Careers Advisers will help you decide which career option is best for you and then give you a Jobskills training credit. Just bring this along to your local training organisation. They will agree a training plan to suit your needs and help you to get qualifications up to National Vocational Qualification Level 3, as well as organising work experience with a suitable employer.
Who can apply?
If you are unemployed and aged between 16 and 17 you can count on a place on the Jobskills programme. If you are aged between 18 and 24 your training may be supported under Jobskills.
Want to take control?
Jobskills gives you an edge with employers. The skills, qualifications and confidence you gain will help you find a job and take control of your future.
