Consultation Summary - UK Higher Education enrolments

Details of consultation

Eighty five customers were consulted recently via email about a possible change to the Department’s annual Higher Education enrolments statistical bulletin.  The Department proposed to change the format of the 2008/09 bulletin by including only Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) data in the main bulletin and then produce a separate statistical factsheet containing a summary of the rest of the data from other sources (i.e. Further Education Colleges, The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise and the Republic of Ireland), both of which would be published on the Department's website.

Results of the consultation

There were 7 responses to the consultation received (5 external and 2 internal). Feedback from customers was generally positive overall and supportive of the suggested change.  Where responses expressed a degree of concern we responded, explaining why we were proposing the suggested approach: some felt it was more useful to have all the information in one document but were content that the information would still be available, albeit in a separate document.

It was therefore decided to go ahead with the Department’s proposal and customers were informed of the decision.
