Northern Ireland compendium of higher education statistics

The Northern Ireland Compendium of Higher Education Statistics brings together information on higher education held by the Department for Employment and Learning. This document examines both NI students enrolled on and gaining qualifications from higher education courses at UK higher education institutions, and students enrolled on and gaining qualifications from higher education courses at NI higher education institutions.

This document was published in August 2003 and contains participation, qualification and first destination information for the 2001/02 academic year.

Statistical profile of Northern Ireland higher education 2002/03 - 2004/05

This document has been developed to provide a summary of Higher Education in Northern Ireland and is less detailed than the Compendium above. The main focus is on student enrolments at Northern Ireland institutions within each academic year.

UCAS higher education entrants

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) process applications for entry to higher education for full-time undergraduate students and publish information on those accepted by UK universities and colleges. UCAS publish regular news releases providing information on applicants accepted to higher education institutions at various times throughout the year.

Performance indicators in higher education

The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) published 'Performance Indicators in Higher Education in the UK 2002/03' on 30 September 2004. Published annually, the indicators provide comparative data on the performance of institutions in widening participation, student retention, learning & teaching outcomes and research output. They cover publicly-funded higher education institutions in the UK (including the four locally established NI HE insitutions).
