Building Better Skills Together

The first All-Island Skills Conference, Building Better Skills Together, was held in the Millennium Forum, Derry, Co. Londonderry, on 9th October 2008.

This unique event was a joint initiative of the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs and the Northern Ireland Skills Expert Group and was opened by Sir Reg Empey, MLA, Minister for Employment and Learning and Mary Coughlan T.D, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

This conference included presentations from leading national and international topic leaders and invitees include senior business people, policy influencers and decision makers. An All-Island Skills Study was launched at the conference, providing an up-to-date picture of skills demand on an all-island basis and informing the work of both expert groups.
