Education
Northern Ireland continues to be recognised as an area which has one of the best education systems in the UK. Not surprising, given that nearly a quarter of public expenditure in Northern Ireland is spent on education.
Pre-school education is non compulsory but is offered to children aged 3 whilst primary school education runs over a 7 year period between the ages of 4 and 11. Northern Ireland's secondary level system currently has 2 main types of schools - grammar and secondary. At third level Northern Ireland has 2 world class universities namely Queens University Belfast and the University of Ulster which has campuses in Jordanstown, Magee in Londonderry and Coleraine. There is also an extensive network of Further Education Colleges providing excellent academic, professional and technical training.
You can find details of school and colleges in Northern Ireland on the Department of Education's website.
