The Future Skills Action Plan for Financial Services was launched by Minister for Employment and Learning, Danny Kennedy, on Wednesday 8th December.
Speaking about the Plan, Minister Kennedy said: “Through the activities outlined in this Plan we want to show young people that a career in financial services can be exciting and varied. We also need to reach out to parents and careers teachers to reassure them that the sector can offer good quality career opportunities.
“Employers are a vital component in the Action Plan. They will be at the forefront of these activities, driving progress and inspiring a whole new generation of young people to consider a career in this vibrant industry.”
Talking about the Future Skills Action Group Bernadette Brown, Santander and Chair of the Group said: “This Group brought together the key stakeholders from Business, Government and our universities and colleges to formulate a short term action plan for financial services. By focusing on areas such as clarifying careers paths and highlighting opportunities available in the sector in Northern Ireland we hope to encourage the right people with the right skills to consider a career in financial services”.
