Hospitality and Tourism Future Skills Action Group
The Future Skills Action Group on H+T is an advisory body made up of representatives of Government, academia and industry.
The role of the Future Skills Action Group for Hospitality and Tourism (H+T), working alongside employers, People 1st, and relevant others is:
- To establish current and future skills needs for the H+T sector including estimating potential numbers and skills levels required;
- To coordinate existing resources and activities within the sector to meet current and future skills needs;
- To advise, design, develop, test, trial and evaluate new interventions which are able to meet existing and future skills needs within the H+T sector; and
- To act as a ‘Champion’ for the H+T sector.
- The Future Skills Action Group for H+T will also advise government on projected requirements and make recommendations on the steps required to meet identified need.
- The work of the group will cover 3 main areas:
- Working with People 1st, Invest NI, the private sector and DEL to identify skills demands for the H+T sector;
- Working with the Higher Education, Further Education and schools sectors to develop appropriate intervention training programmes to meet current and future skills needs; and
- Working with Invest NI, DEL, Careers IAG, Further Education, higher Education, and People 1st to promote the employment opportunities in the H+T sector to individuals.
