Guy Browning
Guy Browning has two key characteristics necessary for great business communication: a thorough understanding of commercial issues and a highly developed sense of humour. Dubbed the David Attenborough of the business jungle, he combines a keen eye for commerce with a rapier-like wit and a wealth of entertaining anecdotes.
Guy is the brains behind the long-running Guardian Office Politics column and the presenter of Guy Browning's Small Talk on Radio 4. Most recently he has written and produced his first feature film.
A history graduate of Oxford University, Guy began his professional career as a copywriter before becoming creative director of marketing agency Added Value prior to launching Smokehouse in 1997, Smokehouse is an innovation consultancy which helps organisations brainstorm new products and services, new ways of working and new ideas for communication. Clients include Shell, HBOS, Toyota and Mars.
Guy is one of the most compelling conference speakers, showing how people in every part of the enterprise can use intelligence, initiative and imagination to tackle any core issues. He has also written a clutch of hugely entertaining books. His 'oeuvre' includes Weak at the Top (the uncensored diary of the last cave manager), Never Hit a Jellyfish with a Spade (how to survive life's smaller challenges) and Maps of my Life, which he describes as an autobiography without the bad bits.
