Highlights from VQ Day 2011
VQ Day 2011 was a resounding success, with Dr Stephen Farry, the Minister for Employment and Learning awarding certificates to ten finalists, and the coveted Northern Ireland VQ Learner of the Year award to Clare Jameson.
Clare, who works for Translink and who started her career path through study at Northern Regional College, completed an Apprenticeship in Railway Engineering (Traction and Rolling Stock) in 2009. She is now undertaking a part-time Honours Degree in Engineering while juggling the challenges of full time employment.
Ofqual, the regulator for VQs, also convened an employers’ round table to discuss the value of VQs and some of the issues surrounding them.
