Worldskills UK

                                                   

WorldSkills UK is a portfolio of skills competition activity managed by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with organisations from industry and education. Run annually, these competitions aim to encourage young people and adults across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to excel in their vocational skill area. Entry to compete at a WorldSkills competition begins with entering a WorldSkills UK competition. Entries are open between October and March of each year.

Why should I enter?

By entering the competitions you will have to develop your current skills to the highest level as you compete against national and international competitors. You will develop a range of new skills as you come in contact with other skilled workers.

What will my employer or college gain from me entering a skills competition?

Success in these competitions will bring publicity to your employer and will help to raise your skill level to meet global challenges.  If you are in further education you will bring recognition to the quality of the vocational programmes offered by your college.

Local Northern Ireland competitions

Local Northern Ireland based competitions are held in a range of vocational areas.  These competitions link to the WorldSkills UK national competition structure.

Representing the UK at Worldskills

The winners of these national competitions compete in a selection process to be part of the squad and finally the team to represent the UK at WorldSkills, the largest vocational skills competition in the world.  The next WorldSkills competition is being hosted in Leipzig, Germany in 2013.

Skills Competitions Champion

Each of the Further Education Colleges and the College for Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise has appointed a Skills Competitions Champion.

Northern Ireland Success

Northern Ireland has an excellent success record in national and international skills competitions.
