			<p>The current Skills Strategy spells out the ambition for Northern Ireland to be &#8220;a leader in developing and deploying management and leadership capabilities fit for 21<sup>st</sup> Century challenges.&#8221; While we have set an initial target of 2015, the recent global economic downturn means the need is now all the greater. &#160;Improved management and leadership skills are proven worldwide to be a highly effective way for companies to gain competitive edge and we need more NI companies to invest now to be better positioned for the inevitable economic upswing.</p>

<p>As well as delivering a number of specific programmes offering a range of entry points and comprehensive <a href="madenotborn-direct-support-programmes.htm">support packages</a>,. We are keen to encourage NI businesses to see and experience the real benefits of investing in relevant and meaningful Leadership &amp; Management training.</p>
How will we do this ?
<p>We have developed a programme of informative events and information sharing, delivered in partnership with a variety of organisations who share in our ambition. We are confident that we can help NI businesses recognise and realise the benefits of improving their leadership and management skills to gain economic advantage. </p>
<p>Our programme is based on sharing best practice, building partnerships and engaging directly with NI companies to encourage them to consider the potential benefits of investing in leadership and management skills for their business. </p>
<p>We recognise that while government has an important role to play in enabling and advocating investment in Leadership &amp; Management skills, the acquisition of higher skills and competencies is the responsibility of the employer as well as the individual. We want to engage with as many companies as possible to encourage them to invest in their own future</p>
How can you engage with the programme ?
<p>The Made Not Born programme has a range of ways for companies to engage with management and leadership development.
