Higher education & further education statistics
The Department for Employment & Learning provides statistics on and commissions research into the higher and further education sectors in Northern Ireland.
The sectors are made up of sixteen further education colleges, two universities (Queens University Belfast and University of Ulster) and the two university colleges (St Mary's and Stranmillis). In addition, statistics are available on NI domiciled students who leave NI to study higher education courses in GB or the Republic of Ireland and those who study higher education courses through the Open University.
A summary of NI education statistics providing key statistics from 1992/93 - 2004/05 and a number of statistical fact sheets
providing key statistics on higher and further education are available from the statistics and research publications section of this site.
